Tahoma Kelli Seed Parent Dahlia Seed

Tahoma Kelli Seed Parent Dahlia Seed

$10.00Price

If you like the anticipation and surprise of a potential new variety, these seeds could be that next great dahlia. Seeds were open-pollinated and gathered from Tahoma Kelli seed parents. We packed a minimum of 10 seeds per envelope.

We use best practices (plant maturity, drying seed, etc.) and have been successful with germination in our own growing, however, percent germination is not assessed or guaranteed for these seeds. This is a true gamble. May the odds be ever in your favor.

If you are not purchasing dahlia and just purchasing seeds, check the seed shipping or farm pick-up options at check-out.

Seeds were harvested in 2025 on our dahlia farm in Mount Pleasant Michigan. Plants will differ in color, flower type, and size from the parent plants.

Germination rates for open-pollinated dahlia seed can be variable due to the natural biology of the plant. Dahlia seeds are the product of sexual reproduction, meaning each seed carries a unique combination of genes from both parent plants. Some seeds may inherit traits that make them slower to germinate, weaker, or less vigorous. Additionally, dahlia seeds are naturally small and may have dormant embryos that require specific conditions—warmth, moisture, and consistent care—to break dormancy. Environmental factors during seed development, such as temperature fluctuations or nutrient availability, can also influence seed viability. As a result, not all seeds will germinate, even under ideal conditions, and this is a normal part of working with open-pollinated plants.

For best results, sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost in moist, warm, well-drained soil. Provide bright light during early development. Harden off and transplant outdoors after last frost. Dahlia thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil.
